Some leaders are called; others elected, some appointment while a few inherit. One such high position that has being in existence since the era of civilization is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Judicature. Sir Arku Korsah In 1956; the year before Ghana's independence, Sir Kobina Arku became the first Chief Justice. He was appointment by the Head of State, Dr.Kwame Nkrumah and this norm of the Executive appointing the President of the Judiciary has come to stay. Nkrumah sacked Sir Arku as Chief Justice in December 1963 replacing him with Justice Julius Sarkodee-Addo. So on, Justice Sarkodee-Addo w as removed after the coup d'état of 24 February 1966 by the military National Liberation Council government. Then came the third Chief Justices, Edward Akufo-Addo , Edward Bannerman, Samuel Azu Crabbe, Fred Akpalu, E.N.P Sowah.
